One of the best places to start your web development career is the best teachers I have seen in my life, they are great!

    Scammy service with deceptive practices

I'll start with the positives: - A lot of topics are covered, not just frontend - There are some instructors worth learning from - They update their frontend courses pretty regularly And now to the problems: Their terms of service state: “We charge $39 per month for unlimited access of the Service each month, and $390 per year for an annual subscription for an unlimited amount of use each month”. However, that's far from the truth. Their whole business is centered around people paying for the service every month and watching one course every month or so. If you try to watch more than average, you get throttled. After contacting their support department, they confirmed that they are throttling their users. When I pointed out that their practices are in violation of their own terms of service and requested that they abide by their own ToS, they cancelled my account and refunded the subscription. People should know that when you subscribe for FrontendMasters you are expected to only watch as much as the rest of their customers watch. If you watch more, you get throttled. Instead of relying on new content to incentivize their customers to renew their subscription, they simply expect their customers to not consume that much content. If you just want to watch a couple of courses in a month, and you think that they are worth the 40 bucks (to be fair, some of them may very well be worth it), then you should go ahead and subscribe. The fact that they are not transparent about their practices is a huge red flag in my books.

There are some good instructors and…

There are some good instructors and courses on FEM, but not enough to justify the cost. I give two stars mainly on the strength of good courses from Kyle Simpson, Jem Young, and Scott Moss. Many courses are outdated, and many are taught by instructors who probably shouldn't be teaching and are clearly uncomfortable. There are simply too many good, more affordable resources out there to justify the $400 annual cost for which most students will use far less than half the course offerings. Note also that FEM is heavily React-centric, so if you want to learn Front-end with Vue or Svelt or, you're mostly out of luck. I also have to note the employ of courses taught by Max Firtman, a person who represents the worst of "my opinion is the only one that matters" tech arrogance. Unless you have $400 for which you really have no better use, skip FEM and make broad use of the many lower cost and even free resources out there. (Also, nothing beats just reading the docs.)

    Instant Win...

I was deliberating if I needed a subscription. I've been coding for years. I finally decided to go for it. The first 15 minutes, of the first course, I viewed, solved a problem that I'd struggled with for ages. That problem was significant enough for Frontend Masters to have paid for itself, already!

Is the best place to learn Front-End…

Is the best place to learn Front-End technologies, Node.js, Javascript frameworks, and more. In the last years, I bought many courses, cheap and expensive, from various websites and somehow I was disappointed. This website explains everything in detail and has a lot of examples. If you practise what they teach then I assure you that you will learn a lot and you can create your own projects for your portfolio. I got disappointed by the search engines because this amazing website hasn't been shown on the top pages and I find it on Github student package.

    The only javascript course

This is really the only place to learn javascript and front end development properly. I can't see any reason to go anywhere else!

If you are serious about learning web development…

If you are serious about learning web developer then don't waste your time on watching a lot of YouTube tutorials and reading a lot of articles because without fundamental knowledge of concepts you wouldn't know how much you've learned and how much you have missed. Frontendmasters also cover advance level topics if you're interested. I say it is better to know where you are heading and how much you've progressed rather than learning from bunch of different resources and then end up wondering have I learned enough? am I ready to get hired? Ok, with that being said (FrontEndMasters) is the best place to learn web development and trust me when I say that because I've been to many places, I've read hundreds of articles, and I've also taken hundreds of courses, I've learned from almost all online platforms that you can name and are famous among developers. These other platforms work there is no doubt but the amount of knowledge you get from (FrontEndMasters) is invaluable.
