The GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences is the national research centre for Earth sciences in Germany. It investigates the geosphere within the highly complex System Earth with its further subsystems and its interacting cycles. The GFZ combines all disciplines of the geosciences from geodesy to geology, mineralogy, geophysics, geochemistry and geobiology in one scientific centre. It is a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres.
