Find Meetup events, join groups, or start your own. Make new friends and connect with like-minded people. Meet people near you who share your interests.
Meetup is an online social networking portal that facilitates offline group meetings in various localities around the world. It allows users to find and join groups unified by a common interest, such as politics, books, games, movies, health, pets, careers or hobbies. Users enter their postal code or city and the topic they want to meet about, and the website helps them arrange a place and time to meet. Topic listings are also available for users who only enter a location.

UNETHICAL SCAM ARTISTS! Group Organizers Beware: Expect to lose some serious money if you subscribe
Brace yourselves: I'm about to blow Meetup's lid off. Ready...? Let's start with the incredibly deceptive business practices: It's clear that Meetup is about to tank and getting desperate. Not only have they made it extremely difficult for organizers to step down from a group, but they've completely disabled your ability to remove YOUR OWN CREDIT CARD DETAILS from the site — so they can keep your payment info on file against your will, in perpetuity. You'd have to cancel your credit card to avoid being charged — so scammy and unethical. They provide no service or support whatsoever, yet charge exorbitant prices — just to run a couple of well-intentioned hiking groups, I've been paying $175 AUD/mo. for a bogus "Pro" subscription, in which organizers can't even delete past events in the groups they pay for. Talk about the illusion of control... you have to "apply" piecemeal to Meetup's admin just to have a single past event removed from a group you own, let alone multiple events. WHAT'S WORSE: Once you step down as a group organizer, ANYONE can hijack the group you built and take it over! And since you can't delete past events, the legacy of all your hard work becomes someone else's to benefit from. Seriously? What kind of business structure is that? It takes time, energy, effort, and sweat to build a community, and Meetup makes it so that any old person can swoop in and inherit your group, without giving you the ability to delete anything. In truth, Meetup is like a slow motion car crash — it's been declining for years in so many ways. Back to cost: Just to break even on the monthly subscription fees, an organizer would have to sell tickets to PAID events — and, let's be honest: no one on Meetup is paying to attend events. The overwhelming majority only want something free to do. So, organizers: expect to hemorrhage some serious funds on your monthly Meetup subscription. Totally not worth it. Don't be like me and waste thousands figuring out you're being scammed. No wonder there's been a mass exodus of members. Avoid Meetup at all costs.

Just scam
They've charged me even when I unsubscribed from their service. It's a scam.

DO NOT BECOME AN ORGANIZER
DO NOT BECOME AN ORGANIZER! Way too expensive with no technical support and the fees go up every year! This makes me choose a date of my experience but I was an organizer for 15 years. Finally said, “ENOUGH!”

70% increase in fees with 1 month…
70% increase in fees with 1 month notice. Further the download members list does not work, so you cannot move YOUR OWN DATA to another provider. Meetup can get stuffed.

I wish I read all the comments here…
I wish I read all the comments here before. I subscribed to Organizer Pro to try. Of course after one hour of trying to use it and didn't found opportunity to cancel my subscription I forgot to make it again. They took 55euro and now I don't know how to cancel subscription! Very shady approach. Never use them again.

Unfortunately very bad app
Unfortunately, I must leave it because I see no point in being an organizer. I think people leave and don't use it anymore. I wrote them many times about bugs, and it's even frustrating to organize, and they didn't answer. They charge for something that is beta versionand they dont make any effort so better not to use it anymore

Literally every negative is true.
Literally every negative thing that has been written about meetup here is true, from customer service being the worst, to them not helping or being knowledgeable, to them literally stealing your money. Never pay for meetup, its a huge scam.

WARNING - do NOT give them your credit card number
WARNING - Do NOT JOIN MEET-UP. This rip-off company took my subscription fee, and when I made a group, they made it not searchable, so that I had to send links to people and then some of them couldn't even join. I tried to get help FOUR separate times, complete with screen shots. I could never get an actual human, just AI responses that didn't address the problem. Nonetheless, my friends deleted the app and reloaded it and tried other deviced, just like the bot said. When I realized I wasn't going to get help and I wouldn't the the group I paid for, I deactivated my account. I never got a single new group member and we didn't have our meeting. They are choosing to keep the $32 I paid them, for which I got no services. They've got another thing coming. I'm disputing the charge, and I'll never get back on Meetup again. If you have a similar experience, PLEASE review this unethical company.
