National Lawyers Guild
The National Lawyers Guild (NLG) is an association of progressive lawyers, law students, legal workers, and jailhouse lawyers in the United States. Founded in 1937 as an alternative to the American Bar Association, the NLG is the oldest and largest public interest/human rights bar organization in the US. It is dedicated to the need for basic change in the structure of our political and economic system. The Guild seeks to unite the lawyers, law students, legal workers, and jailhouse lawyers to function as an effective political and social force in the service of the people, to the end that human rights shall be regarded as more sacred than property interests.
